The Macadamia nut is native to the mid East coast of so called Australia. It is known as bauple, gyndl, jindilli, and boombera to local Aboriginal groups. The Budjilla people ate the nut as well as using the oil as a base for body painting and medicinal oil rubs.
The nuts are remarkably high in nutrients, a 100g serving contains well over the recommendation daily intake of vitamin B1 & manganese. The nuts are also high in monounsatursted fats and have been found to reduce inflammation, oxidative stress & coagulation in people with high cholesterol.  Macadamia nuts may have positive impacts on people with cardiovascular issues.
