Echinacea (Echinacea purpura) also known as Purple Coneflower is a daisy identifiable by its spiky stamen (a signature of this herbs strong action of defence). This daisy is native to the eastern & central parts of Turtle Island (aka Central America) where the plant was used by a number of different navtie tribes including the Kiowa people of the Great Plains who used echinacea to treat coughs & sore throats.
Echinacea is a powerful immune stimulant and is effective in treating respiratory tract infections as well as healing wounds & ulcers. It is known that the plant works by stimulating the movement of the lymphatic system, cleansing the blood & healing wounds. Although for those with autoimmune, such as chronic fatigue or coliecs disease this herb may increase negative symptoms.
