Brinjal, eggplant or aubergine (Solanum melongena) is a purple spongy fruit, or technically a berry. The nightshade was domesticated in South East Asia from its ancestor the thorn or bitter apple from Africa.
In Aurveydic tradition this plant was used to treat diabetes. Eggplant is high in fiber making it excellent for digestion & the heart. The skin can help cognition by protecting the brain as well as being good for eye health.
