Wheat (Triticum aestivum) is a grass cultivated for its seed, known as a #cerealgrain. #Wheat has reportedly been used by humans in Turkey & surrounding areas since at least 9600 BCE but it is believed humans have worked with this #grain since long before then. Now wheat is considered a staple #cereal much of the world over. Wheat, when consumed as a #wholegrain, contains many #nutrients especially #Bvitamins, some #protein & #dietaryfibre. White processed wheat however, contains far less #nutritional value as the #bran & #germ have been removed leaving only the #endosperm. Wheat notably contains the protein #gluten which can cause the #immune condition known as #coeliac disease, which is different to a #wheatallergy or #intolerance which is believed to be triggered by #fructans present. #healingwithwholefoods #HealthWitch Photo by @shaylithelabel https://www.instagram.com/p/CE8fgagn01Q/?igshid=ad7o6aklzbvk
